The good news: for a believer in Christ, any part of life where peace is not… peace can be.
At Home with the Prince of Peace
I had an aha moment recently about peace that I hope you’ll find as helpful as I did.
- Scripture teaches that Jesus is the Prince of Peace.
- And that Christ lives in the believer.
- Therefore, the inside of me should be what you’d expect the inside of the home of the Prince of Peace to be like: full of peace.
How to Receive Peace
When you believe in Jesus…
He brings you peace.
- But He was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed. – Isaiah 53:5 (NIV, emphasis added)
Peace with God makes you a member of God’s household.
- When the Messiah came, He proclaimed the good news of peace to you who were far away and peace to those who were near. For through Him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father. So then you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with the saints, and members of God’s household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus Himself as the cornerstone. – Ephesians 2:17-20 (HCSB, emphasis added)
And you will be unshakeable.
- Therefore the Lord GOD said: “Look, I have laid a stone in Zion, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone, a sure foundation; the one who believes will be unshakeable.” – Isaiah 28:16 (HCSB, emphasis added)
Where Do You Need Peace?
The good news: for a believer in Christ, any part of life where peace is not, peace can be. And it needs to be.
It’s time to call out those thoughts and things that work against peace in you.
A believer is a temple of God’s Holy Spirit. It’s time for his peace to be fully at home there.
Scripture Teaches Believers to Live This Way:
- “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” – John 14:27 (NKJV, emphasis added)
- The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. – Romans 8:6 (NIV, emphasis added)
- You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You. – Isaiah 26:3 (NKJV, emphasis added)
- Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. – Philippians 4:6-7 (NKJV, emphasis added)
