Our physical struggles–our pain, our sickness–are rooted in the reality of a larger struggle. We have an enemy, one who is working hard to kill, steal, and destroy (John 10:10). But we have a savior, who came to destroy the works of the devil (1 John 3:8).
God, equip me fully to cooperate with you in your mission to bring the fullest expression of life (John 10:10) to your children. Fill me with everything from you that is needed for me to carry out the role you intended and planned long ago for me (Ephesians 2:10). Grow me up to be the exact kind of sibling of Christ that he spoke of when he described the kind of work that believers in him would do (John 14:12).
That is my prayer. I invite you to make it your prayer.
For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark work, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places (Ephesians 6:12 NLT).
