Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
Romans 12:2 (NLT)
Let God change the way I think? And thereby be changed by him into a new person?

Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.
Romans 12:2 (HCSB)
This suggests to me that there are evil spiritual forces at work in the world trying to conform me to fit the mold cast by them. (One example—although there are others—would be a spirit of offense.) But God, through the Holy Spirit in me, is at work on renewal of my mind. That renewal has the power not just to change me, but to restore the mind of Christ that I have been given (1 Cor. 2:16).
Scripture doesn’t say conform yourself, or transform yourself.
My part is to let God do it.
If I want to “know how to do everything that is good and pleasing to God” (Romans 12:2 CEV)—and I do—this is the way.
