“So I brought him to your disciples, but they couldn’t heal him.”
Afterward the disciples asked Jesus privately, “Why couldn’t we…?”
Matthew 17:16, 19 (NLT)
When Jesus’ first group of disciples came up against a block to healing, they asked Jesus what the obstacle was, and he gave them a specific answer.
Jesus didn’t tell them it was a mystery. He told them actual realities that they could–and needed to–act on.
Disciples of Jesus: We, too, can ask.
Let’s drop the word “mystery” as it relates to non-healings. Let’s say instead, “I don’t yet know why I wasn’t able to heal by God’s power, but I am going to ask Jesus to reveal the answer, like he did when his earliest disciples had a failure at healing and they asked him why, and he told them.”
And then let’s ask. And listen for the answer. And act on it.
